This weekend, in the digital and press edition of El País semanal, Anatxu Zabalbeascoa writes a full report about the relationship between Spanish cities and their rivers. Madrid, Zaragoza, Lleida, Mérida and Cordoba have already started its regeneration process. In Madrid, the Manzanares River Park (Madrid Río) is an unprecedented case in Spain due to its vaste extensión.

“…about 60.000 citizents use the park daily for walking, having a break, playing soccer, cycling or to wet their feet. But this new park is not an architectural attraction. It is not a monument, neither a postal card image” as Fernando Porras, one of the project´s architect says “It is not a symbol, it is a part of the city”
